Do you Kiva

Do you even know what Kiva is?
Do you Kiva yourself?

I Kiva!
26 of those for my own personal team.
From an input of $173 I have lent $800
And that I am damn proud of.

Kiva began in 2005
and is a non profit organisation
that uses the Internet and micro finance institutions
to let people loan $25 (or more)
to help alleviate poverty around the world.
At the time of writing this there is
954, 525 lenders who have done $450,382,425 in loans
in 69 countries around the world.

Kiva provides loans via the micro finance institutions (field partners)
to people who are unable to access the traditional banking system
(for many different and varied reasons)
All the money that you loan is sent direct to the field partners,
who are not charged any interest by Kiva and
then they deal direct with the person you have selected.

And this is the other great part of Kiva,
You can select the country, sex of the person, singular or groups
and the type of loan it is.

If anyone would like to join me on Kiva
you are very welcome to join my team
come over and see what it is all about.

  1. In some parts of the world it really doesn't take much to make a difference.

  2. I love this program. It is so neat that in this modern time we are able to reach out and truly change the lives of people so far away. Kiva and Heifer International are two amazing models of how change can be done one family at a time.

  3. Sounds like an interesting program. I'd never heard of it before!
